Engineering

School of Engineering was established in 1979 for offering part-time M.Tech. Programmes in the major disciplines of engineering viz. Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering for practicing engineers in and around Cochin. Research activities were introduced in 1981 with Ph.D. Programmes. The School introduced B.Tech. Programmes in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology in 1995, which turned out to be a milestone in the growth of the School. B.Tech. in Safety and Fire Engineering was added in 1996 & Electrical &Electronics Engg. in 2003.

Presently SOE has been conducting M.Tech programme (part time) in Civil, Mechanical and Chemical Engg. and the admission for the above programme is conducted in every alternate years and next admission will be conducted in the year 2011. School of Engineering has been well accepted as a research centre. A number of research projects have been sanctioned to the School by agencies like DST, Central Water Commission, ISRO, AICTE, Coir Board, Kerala State Coir Corporation, etc. These have helped to establish fully equipped laboratories and promote research activities. The research community of the School has published papers in international/national level journals.
