Facilties

The University Library has a collection of about 70000 volumes, 280 current journals, 560 theses and 80 CD-ROMs and offers Loan service, Inter-Library Loan, Literature Search, Reference Search, Compilation of Bibliographies, Reprographic Service, Reprint Service, Conference Alert Service, New Addition Alert Service, Patent Information and Consultancy Service. It provides online access to most of the foreign journals subscribed and a database of “Current Contents’ is maintained to support the research needs of the students.

The University Employment Information & Guidance Bureau came in to existence in 1973 for the dissemination of occupational and vocational information to the student community to enable them to become saleable in the present day competitive world of placements. This is a joint venture of the University and the National Employment Service Department of the Government of Kerala. The Chief of the Bureau represents the University and the Deputy Chief represents the National Employment Service. An Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of the Vice-Chancellor coordinates the activities of the Bureau. Besides the above, the Bureau conducts periodic training programmes to equip students face a variety of competitive examinations.

The Common Facility Centre is the hub of campus activity and houses the State Bank of Travancore, two ATM counters, a Telecom Centre with ISD / STD telephones / Fax, Refreshment Stall, Stationary Shop and Photocopying Centre in the ground floor and the offices of the Employment Guidance Bureau, Youth Welfare Department, Physical Education Department, University Hostels, Cochin University Union and a Reading Room in the first floor.

The Cochin University Post Office is also located nearby with facilities for Speed Post and International Money Transfer from / to any part of the world.
