The University Employment Information and Guidance Bureau attached with
Cochin University of Science and Technology came into existence on 10.01.1973.
This is the joint venture of the University and National Employment Service
(Kerala) Department. The Chief of the Bureau is nominated by the Vice
Chancellor of the University and the Deputy Chief of the Bureau is an
Employment Officer of National Employment Service (Kerala) Department,
nominated by the Director of Employment. Bureau is situated at Common Facility
Centre in the main campus of CUSAT. It has two class rooms and a career library
having more than thousand career related reference books. Over these years the
bureau has made a mark for itself in organizing a range of programmes aimed at
developing individual competencies in self-knowledge, educational and
occupational exploration and career planning. The bureau has been fairly
successful in disseminating Occupational and Vocational Information to the
student community both within the CUSAT campus and outside
The objective of the Bureau is to provide career guidance (both individual and in
groups) and is to disseminate occupation to the student community, so as to enable
them to qualify/seek the job they aspire, conducting coaching class of various
competitive examinations like UGC-NET/JRF, Bank Clerical/Probationary Officer
Examination, PSC Lower Division Clerk, etc are other important activities of the
Bureau. The Bureau also conducting Soft Skill training, EmployabilityEnhancement Programmes, Personality Development Courses, etc in University
Departments and various colleges. The Bureau provides Career Guidance Talks to
schools and colleges regularly. Services offered are absolutely free of cost except
The Bureau is also conduct free coaching classes for UGC/CSIR-NET/JRF and
entry into service to the SC/ST minority community students of CUSAT with the
aid of University Grant Commission.
The Bureau has an occupational information room where English and Malayalam
dailies, periodicals with up-to-date information of various competitive
examinations, applications, results of various examinations, etc are displayed.
Several students are approaching the Bureau for availing the above facilities.
The library is updated with latest books like Association of Indian Universities
hand book and guides for competitive examinations. Books containing
information about scholarships, research opportunities etc are available in our
