Main campus,CUSATDepartment of Applied Economics (DAE) was envisaged primarily as a research oriented Department with its focus on applied economic problems. Situated in a Science and Technology academic environment, the Department promotes studies and research pertaining to the economic dimensions of science, technology and society and the economic problems of the region. The University has hitherto conferred the Ph.D. degree on 52 scholars of the Department. The faculty of the Department have received international exposure through fellowships / awards tenable at overseas institutions. An important area of activity of the Department is providing training to college teachers in the state to enhance their capabilities in teaching and research. Conducting refresher programmes and research methodology workshops for teachers has been a regular activity of the Department. The Department has an excellent library with more than 10000 books and subscribes to over 50 national and over 25 international journals.
